"Hahahah."
Question's words were now both tickling, and irking Thestral's at the same time. She had yet to actually answer her question. Thestral still had no idea who this woman was. It would have been nice to know, but in the end, it really didn't matter. She would die the same either way. Still, Thestral couldn't stop laughing at her. She was so pathetic.
"I suppose you're smarter than you give yourself credit for," Thestral said to her with a giggle. "I probably would have killed you as soon as you turned your back anyway."
It was the truth. Thestral had already made up her mind a while back. Question was to die. Thestral was going to kill her. There would be no escape; only darkness. Thestral raised both of her hands, extending her palms outward and faced them at Question.
"So tell me, are you ready to die?"

"I've been prepared to die for years now. You're just a little late to the party."
Ildon still didn't quite understand the mentality of some of the Earth's inhabitants when it came to situations like this; her adversary showed no aversion towards killing, she herself was obviously prepared to fight her over it, and yet this little tirade of words was deemed necessary. Initially she'd circumvented the whole thing and settled on just punching people in the face when they started their own little version of a condescending speech. Now, however, she was just tired enough of them to let them continue - if they wanted to drag things out, fine with her. Flinging her hat off to the side and forming a gauntlet around her right arm, she remained tensed up in anticipation for Thestral's assault. "I'd like it if we could hurry this up. Got a twelve o'clock appointment to stop a drug deal, and I'd hate to be late for that."Oh man, this isn't going to go well for Ildon. XD I'm seeing a lot of pain in her immediate future.

"Such arrogance from a maggot."
It appeared that this woman knew exactly how to get onto Thestral's nerves. Thestral grinned. This could easily be the death of this mysterious woman. On the other hand, Thestral had no fear of death. This woman couldn't kill her. There wasn't a chance. She didn't know much about Question. All she knew was the woman seemed stronger than the average human being, at least in durability.
"But at the very least, you should tell me your name. When I kill someone, I leave behind very little evidence... Your loved ones will probably wish to know of your death," Thestral said with a smirk. She held her palms held high, ready to strike, just as before.
"But if you are sure, then I guess we shall begin," Thestral said. The shadows then began to creep up from the ground, and gently she would attempt to coil them around the woman's ankle if she were not paying attention.

The words were mostly lost on her - another insult, a very thinly veiled threat. Her comment of 'loved ones' certainly seemed amusing to her, given her origins; save for the High Priestess, she doubt she could count any of her people as 'loved ones' in any sense of the term. If she died here, there would probably be an official mourning period due to her status, but there would be little tumult after a successor's naming. Thestral's sneaky tactic was a good one, and sure to work - Ildon was somewhat distracted by her high-and-mighty proselytizing, and she really had no extrasensory abilities to tip her off to the shadows steadily creeping around her feet. She really should have been more expectant of a sneak attack of some sort, but with her disability, it was sometimes difficult to get a good look at her surroundings. But thankfully for her, the gang member by her side caught the movement out of the corner of his eyes. Even as he recoiled from her in silent terror, she'd already propelled herself off the stairs and towards the street, silent in flight; most self-proclaimed heroes would offer up a witty rebuttal, but she deemed that unnecessary. A discus-like construct formed in her hand, easily visible from the multiple light sources outside, before she flung it at Thestral's mid-section.

Thestral was somewhat irritated to see that her attack on her opponent hadn't worked. She had thought she'd get her with that stealthy attack, but she had somehow seen it and was able to avoid it. The chances she'd felt it were incredibly low. Thestral had done everything in her power to make sure she wouldn't feel it. In any case, she kept Question in her sights and began hovering upward until she was a good three meters in the air.
"You're not very talkative at all..." Thestral said. Though just after she said this, saw a disc flying straight for her. Whatever that item was, she didn't know, but she wasn't just going to allow herself to get hit by it. She inhaled, and for the moment it came to hit her, the disc would go straight through her.
"You can't hit me... I'm a ghost..." She said to her, though this was a lie... to a certain extent. However, Amanda believed such a lie could easily psyche out an opponent, and a psyched out opponent was easier to beat.
"I am intangible," she added. Though her intangibility only lasted when she was focused on it and wore off when she wasn't thinking about it, if she could get her opponent to think that she was always intangible, this battle may become much easier.

To say that Thestral's reaction had disheartened her would be making a tiny bit of an understatement. She wasn't completely fooled by her, though; that first construct had landed solidly enough, so this person wasn't intangible all the time - although it was equally possible that she could simply turn it on and off with a whim, and that she'd just been playing with the police. Either way, she hit the ground running, her mind began racing as she thought back to her teachings on intangible beings. It came to a lot of nothing, however, as even if this person followed the limitations of other similar entities - namely the elements and magic, to be general - she currently had absolutely zero ways to exploit that. While quips weren't generally her forte given her lackluster knowledge of Earth's pop culture, she had been entranced enough with science-fiction to have some ammunition for this. "Ghost, huh? And me without my proton pack."From the gang member's viewpoint she could see that the few surviving policemen had retreated back to a safe distance, and she inwardly hoped that they'd at least remain there, if not flee entirely. She was determined to give them the opportunity to do so, even if they didn't take it. Still on the move and fully aware of how useless the attempt would be, she nevertheless flung another discus at Thestral while forming a small rounded shield on her other arm.

It seemed like the woman she was fighting was rather determined. The reason for such determination, however, was baffling. She could obviously tell by now that she was a metahuman, but why two metahumans needed to fight for such trivial matters such as gang activities were ridiculous. Why would Question go to such lengths for such an inferior notion of justice.
In any case, Thestral allowed the disc thrown at her to phase through her once more. She wasn't taken off guard by such an upfront method of attack, and thus wouldn't be hit by it. The weapon went straight through her, though Thestral remained on guard. Slowly, her body sunk into the ground as she merged herself with the shadows. She'd emerge slowly from the ground a good two meters in front of her opponent.
"If you're a metahuman like me... why are we fighting? We could be getting whatever we want! Don't you see? People like us are superior to people like them! It's not too late, we can be friends," Thestral's mood had already changed entirely from what it had been only moments before. She was sincere in her proposal.
"I haven't met many other metahumans."
