Slums of Metropolis city... The wretched hive of scum and villainy, as one renowned character called an entirely different place, the term was perfectly usable to the situation here. A pit of the world, always were always will. Even Luthor's harsh penalties for crimes and superheroes' watch never managed to rid these places of crime completely. The wrongdoers simply went underground, into hiding, out of the streets and into the sewers, or other hidden places... It looked relatively calm and quiet during the day, but at night ... watch out. Especially since in the light of current events, when the city's hero - Superman, went missing, the scum started rising its ugly head again...
However, these slums, while an excellent place to get into trouble, were an excellent place to get lost too. Those who needed to hide from somebody or something - the law, villains, creditors, CIA, all had a chance of finding a good shelter here. Nobody knew for sure who lurked there and what was going on around these dark alleyways... A perfect hideout for all kinds of ... villainous characters. And underground, in one of the basements protected by several steel doors, ... there was one such place.
- Oh oh oh, my boy... Things are not looking well, at all... - a rather tall old man, sporting a white labcoat, said, shaking his head, as he looked through some sheets that looked like medical charts, and walked around the table. Near, on a bunk, there was another man sitting, though much taller than even the tall scientist, and he wore something that was looking like a dark-blue military-fashioned trenchcoat thingy. The expression on his face was impenetrable, because he lacked half of a normal face...
This was ... an armsdealer's den, so to speak. And the scientist was once known as dr. Hamilton, a renowned scientist in many fields. How did he go down to such lowly position as a mere illegal armsdealer? A long story... It was his belief that made him somewhat of a wanted criminal... And a man has to eat, right? Hamilton sold required thingamajigs to anyone with enough money ... but with Fritz they shared a ... different relationship.
- Whatever hit your ear back then sure left quite an impact... It would take quite some time for you to hear normally... And maybe it will never return to initial state again. Perhaps consider putting a second mechanical ear? - the professor asked quizzically, musing over the injuries Fritz received during his ... latest encounter. It was funny that something was actually able to hurt the armored warrior. Never the less, it had to be dealt with...
- No thanks doc, I'd rather not have any more steel implanted in me. I'll wait until the ear is healed. - the eerily calm voice was heard from the taller human. It was an aftermath indeed. Black Canary's blast did not seem to have been so damaging at first, but after battle ... well, it became worse. Batman made a few dents too... Annoying really.
- You should not have gotten involved in a fight with those three in the first place. Joker did not pay you for their demise yet, correct? So why do freebees for him? Now I have to put stitches on you and fix your suit once more...
- Yes, encounter with batman was most unfortunate... - Fritz's last reply sounded more like an apology. Indeed, he did nothing good, he only got himself in trouble, and revealed himself earlier than required, and damaged his expensive battle suit.
- I saw footage of your battle on the news... Batman's suit is quite impressive on his own right, but I as developer of yours can say with a degree of certainty yours is better. Batman's was made to fight regular humans, criminals, while yours...
- Terrorists?
- Pshaw, terrorists, please. Terrorists are a bunch of people with guns going coocoo and claiming something. No. Yours was made fight a much ... stronger thread. However Fritz ... I came to conclusion that even such advanced weaponry as ones granted to you won't be enough to defeat enemies you might encounter... I think you would need some help...
When Hamilton said this, Fritz stood up from the bunk. This ... well, was a demeaning comment. The cyborg was a very efficient killer, very loud killings behind him, and now he was told he is not enough to deal with anyone? No way. Weren't it for his aggression inhibitor, he could have replied sharply. But no, nothing can make him lose his cool. The static half-smirk remained...
- Are you doubting my efficiency?
- Look at the news. If you fled from a non-super guy in a lesser combat suit, can you deal with stronger threats? But, in reality, my concerns are not really your fault. While I made the prototype suit invulnerable to just about anything, it doesn't make you invincible, There are still weaknesses that in encounter with a metahuman may prove fatal. But do not worry... I found somebody who will help you deal with it...

"Nyahaha, cake magic for everybody!"
In contrast with the serious and cyberpunk feeling of Fritz's safehouse, the cute but a big insane voice of a girl could be hear and out of nowhere a girl appeared in front of the cyborg, happily eating a slice of a cake and constrasting even more thanks to her colorful appearance with the dark feeling of the building.
"They said there are batmen here, I want to see the batmen!"
She had come from Japan exclusively to hunt down batman, but while she knew he lived in USA, she didn't know exactly where he performed his rape-related activities, it was only luck what made her land in Metropolis instead of another random city and meet that strange oldman who liked to play with toys, because robots are nothing but more technologically advanced toys.
It all started a day ago, she had just arrived after infiltrating into an airplane thanks to her teleporting powers and arrived to the Metropolis airport just at time to witness some random masked hero and a criminal fighting nearby, apparently the generic villain #666 tried to escape via hijacking an airplane, but generic costumed hero #333 pursued him.
Alice in wonderland, as Mirei decided to call herself and adopt as her new name, didn't like how the incident made the people around unhappy, so she went next to the place where those two were having a life-or-death battle and teleported them next to the still active turbine of an airplane that was arriving to the airport .... the result of that funny incident was rated M for mature and Alice in wonderland simply left after "erasing" the source of annoyance.
One thing led to another and because she loudly asked everybody where to find batman, the airport security came to get her. Luckily, some oldman was there apparently waiting for new toys that arrived from a foreign land and saw everything ... what happened next was fuzzy and weird, but at the end she ended up inside a building with many shinies and wires and stuff, and now she was in front of aguy who was the unholy fusion of man and toy!
"Om nom nom, I'm Alice in wonderland btw, are you the man-toy who knows where to find batman? The man with the shinies said something about working with you"
And then the nibbled another piece of the slice of cake, it was delicious.

Fritz only blinked when suddenly, out of the blue, a random girl materialized in front of him, and his hand slowly reached for a handgun, but stopped. Wait... something was wrong here. A girl. In a Halloween suit. With cake in her hands. Out of nowhere. Looking for batmen. Something was definitely wrong. Fritz pinched himself to make sure this was not some random glitch or hallucination or whatever. But no, the weird person was still there, STARING at him as if he was some sort of a freak. Well... that explained it actually. Any person would have had a wtf? 0_0 expression on their faces, but in case with Fritz it went to a mere raised eyebrow.
- Man-toy? - he looked at the girl curiously, and than at the doctor with a quizzical look. - Professor is being senile again? Professor drank too much medical alcoholic solution again? - he asked with mild irony. But seriously, how could this ... deranged child be his ... whatever? She did not look like she was going to be of any help, despite the fact she just teleported inside like it was no problem.
- Ha-ha, Wraith, very funny. But my point remains... - the doctor said and called Fritz a bit off, saying in a much quieter tone: - The girl is a bit ... deranged, but she can help you. Her abilities are ... unique. And you have nerves and patience made of steel, don't you? Snipers usually work in pairs, don't they? - the professor laughed and approached the girl again.
- Man toy is not a nice term, it makes people sad. But you could call the man Wraith, or Fritz, whatever you like. He doesn't know where batman is, but batman seems to find him whenever he goes on a mission. If you stick with him, you prolly will encounter the bat sooner or later. They fought each other just yesterday ^^

"The wraith! That's a bit bland, from now on you are wrath the march hare!"
She couldn't care less if he was wraith, spawn or popeye, from now on, she was going to know him as Wraith the march hare and he was going to love the new name!
Having finished the cake slice, she teleported the plate to a nearby table and teleported herself directly next to the man-toy now known as Wraith the march hare, she looked up to him and saw how he had a shiny in the eye, it was shining red and it was almost hypnotic. She wanted to take the shiny and add it to her shiny collection, but it belonged to the march hare and he was going to be sad if she stole it.
"What a nice shiny, I bet that shiny makes you popular and that's why Batman always appears near you, he wants to steal your shiny!"
It was a flawless theory, Batman was a well known rapist and it wouldn't be weird if he also were an evil shiny thief. She was worried batman stole Wraith the march hare's shiny and looked seriously at the man-toy.
"We must protect that shiny! I decided to become your partner, so I can be always near your shiny and stop that rapist shiny thief of batman!"
Said that, she suddenly become real fast and looked from many angles at the shiny in Wraith the march hare's eye, it was the shiny to end all shinies and belonged to HIM, a man-toy. Maybe being a man-toy was a requisite to have a shiny ....

- March hare? - Fritz rose his eyebrow again. The professor was right, the girl was deranged, only calling her "a bit" deranged was a HUGE understatement. The girl was a cloud coocoo lander, such were usually kept in straight jackets in certain places everybody managed to escape from anyhow. But the professor was right about Fritz having steel nerves, and would, probably be able to put up with just about everything - his robotized side was suppressing pretty much any bad emotion, as well as good one, leaving for the most part a dissonant serenity, and irrelevance...
It was a cute thing when the girl darted around looking at his robotic eye, not being scared of the menacing cyborg and his appearance not one bit, being a bit dazed and hypnotized by the gleaming red light coming out of it. Not that much value, it had, but for some reason the crazy girl looked at it as if it was a precious gem or something of utmost importance. Weird, very very weird.
- It is my eye, shiny. Hmm... Sounds nice. I will call you Shiny then, so we be even. - Fritz replied with an ever-present serene smile on his face, as he patted the short little girl, and yes she was sort and little compared to him, on the head. The scientist smiled too when he saw their interaction - he made a good bet - the cyborg was completely impossible to ridicule or make upset, and if so, this pair will be able to work at its maximum, without resenting each other. Cyborgs, always easier to deal with them, they were always so calm, so patient...
- He-he, march hare, good one. Alice, dear, would you be so kind as to show your new friend what can you do? He'd be most interested to see, I am sure ^^

"Not Alice, Alice in wonderland, but shiny is ok, I like shinies"
She corrected the man who liked to play with those fancy shiny toys, her full name was Alice in wonderland and calling her simply Alice was very nasty. However, she accepted with no problems being called Shiny, she liked shinies and someday she was going to find the ultimate shiny and show it to the rest of the world.
"What can I do .. what I can do? Oh, those things!"
What she could do was nothing strange, manipulation of the very fabric of time and space was something simply normal for her and so she showed them the awesome abilities she possessed: First she warped the space around march hare and instantly moved him from where he was to the streets outside the safe house, she still had a mental image of the location and as long she could visualize the destination, she could move anything. It was boring to be without march hare,so she simply brought him back two seconds after teleporting him outside, hopefully the strange experience of being literally removed from the mortal plane of existence and inserted in another location didn't do anything to his senses, because one had to be used to teleporting to not suffer vertigo or simply be immune to the lost of balance from seeing reality itself change.
After that little trick, she somehow made a little clock appear on top of march hare and the professor's head, the one above march hare moving it's hands slowly while the one above the toy-loving man moving reaaaally fast. Luckily the magic also affected their perception of time, so march hare was going to see everything moving really fast, the toy-loving professor would see everything moving slow, and both of them would feel like they are moving at normal speed while everything else moves at unnatural pace, only Alice in wonderland being capable of sensing time as normal people do.
"Now try moving or thinking!"
Even their reaction time and speed of processing information was altered, although if march-hare's brain was also modified cybernetically, maybe he could re-program how his senses work to adapt to the change in the flow of time.

- The wha--? - Fritz only managed to say before the fabric of reality itself started wrapping around him like a drug-induced dream - normal surroundings replaced by psychedelic pictures of warped space and time - melted clocks in desert, like that picture, and other weird things. Fritz's robot eye went scrambling for a little second, not being calibrated to such a weird and unexplainable things as magic. Everything went blurry for a second that felt like it lasted for much longer than that, and then ... Fritz suddenly found himself standing ... in the middle of an empty street.
Fortunately there were no people around - it was night after all, and few would dwell around slums at this time of hour. Plus Fritz was zapped back shortly after. The quick trip back and forth was not the most pleasant thing he endured - his eye electronics scrambled and he felt dazed, not used to such protuberances. With a sigh, he sat back on the couch which was nearby, still trying to gather his thoughts together and visualize a normal picture. Eventually, the system was restored to normal.
- Hmm... Interesting... It seems that her ... teleporting magic is hazardous to your electronics, Wraith. I anticipated such an effect, but not to this extent. Are you alright? - the doctor asked with a bit of worry, but there was more curiosity to it - he felt ... excited, as a scientist. Such people could provide lots of interesting scientific experimentation upon ... or so he thought. But before Fritz could reply to anything the girl cast yet another spell both on him and on the doctor... Drug - induced dream part 2 was about to begin.
Fritz wanted to think ... something, but faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiiiileeeed aaaat iiiiiit. Well, not really, but things suddenly started moving really fast around him - faster than his brain could comprehend. And his thoughts were moving really slow - slow enough to not reply anything to the doctor's quarry - he was just too slow thinking up a reply it seemed the cyborg simply switched off - just sat there, motionless, staring at one spot or something like that.
- Fritz? Fritz? Are you alright? - Hamilton sounded even more worrisome as he literally went flying around the cyborg's couch, moving fast, very fast, really fast and talking at the same pace. It looked more like comedy to a 3rd party, but in reality it was not quite so funny. Wraith was literally paralyzed to do anything, and was in disarray. This couldn't bode well...
... Eventually the effects of the timewarp had worn out on both, finally returning to normal. Upon being able to focus again and returning from this epic mindf*uck he was send into, Fritz shook his head, to wear out the last aftereffects, and stood up again, though wavering a bit. His normal part of the face showed a hint of confusion still, while the other remained as cold and motionless as ever. The cyborg's hand approached the face resulting in a facepalm - he was weary of all this.
- My systems do not mesh well with her abilities... Feels like being stuffed in a microwave washing machine being turned on. - he stated.
- That I noticed my good man. It is very interesting though as to why it is so... Perhaps if I were able to perform some tests... - Hamilton said enthusiastically, raising his head and looking upon the cyborg, but then his face suddenly turned pale as he made a step back. Fritz's eye was glowing bright red, a lot brighter than usual, and the good doctor suddenly felt himself being very, very weak - legs stopped supporting him, as if they were made of cotton. The scientist grabbed the edge of the table not to fall down unto the floor.
- I'd rather not subjugate myself to anymore tests, thank you. - though Fritz's intonation never changed, it was very clear to anybody with a brain he was being pissed. And Hamilton knew what the bright eye meant - aggression inhibitor overload raising. Cold sweat went down his spine - it was unwise of him to poke the probably only painful spot the cyborg had.
- Of ... of course, I ... I never meant anything. I apologize. Still, as you had clearly seen, the girl's abilities would have great impact on any foes you'd be fighting against, against them and to your advantage... - the doctor said tiredly, and pulled himself a chair, still being very pale. The scientist should have never forgotten he was dealing with a quiet type of a very, very deranged, very murderous person...

"I can move things or make them work slow or fast!"It was needless for her to repeat that again, but she was the kind of people who repeated many times something that was by now obvious. Some people called her captain obvious for that, she called them frozen frogs. Anyway, apparently her abilities made march hare and the nameless professor feel dizzy, that was normal because they weren't awesome magical girls like her, so she refrained from using the magics on them again and simply waited until both of them stopped talking about their experiences. "Those voices in my head told me about the powers, they are my best friends, someday I want to meet them"Being already quite wacky, the odds of somebody believing her when she mentioned the origin of her powers was low, but if somebody believed it and wanted to contact those "friends" of hers, they would receive a nasty surprise in the form of getting their minds driven mad by the revelation. Brain activity reading equipment would work wrong and explode, psychics would go mad and magicians would suffer a cosmic backlash, there was no way to discover the truth .... "And now I'm bored "

- I see... Hmm... - Fritz said thoughtfully, thinking about what the weird mage girl said about her abilities, now that his head returned to the right place and the protuberances ended. Feelings aside, and he always put those aside, these were ... very valuable abilities. Fritz understood, the girl was a mage, a "super", but a different kind of. She did not possess any offensive capabilities - no flight, no laser eyes, no super-strength, no nothing. Instead she had those ... uncanny abilities, who would ... be actually very great for assisting one who does have all of the above. Like him. An array of tactical opportunities revealed before his eyes.
- Doctor, have you fixed my suit? - he asked.
- Of course, Wraith. There wasn't much to fix. The only thing that actually needed fixing... still needs, is your ear. But you will have to treat it with meds - here I am of little help. Follow me. - the doctor said and made a sign for Fritz to follow him to another end of the room, to something that was looking like an armored closet. Upon entering the difficult code, the door was finally opened, and revealed in a dull light of an old lightbulb the black huge figure that was the suit. Hamilton stepped away, giving the way.
- Ah, such a beautiful creation... Don't dare scratching it again!

"Fixing? That's it, he is Mr. Fixit!"
She said pointing her finger at good old Hamilton. He was fixing things, and he was a mister, therefore he was Mister Fixit, a genius-like movement from the awesome magical girl.
Alas, those two sillies paid her no attention and instead walked towards another room, where Mr. Fixit worked his magic and opened a door that most likely hid many shinies inside the room it protected, and she was right, there was a shiny inside! ... and a random and not very interesting black thingamajig below it, but maybe it had a shiny in the eyes just like man-toy march hare.
"Mister Fixit, what is that thing?"
She asked to the scientist, wondering about why it was so important that it was worthy of being the only object in the room receiving the blessing of the shiny above it, something normal people call a light-bulb

- She's such a child... - Hamilton laughed as he heard the girl give him a snappy nickname. Well it was better than being called "Wraith the march hare", and he actually liked how it sounded... Sort of. Fun and games all that, and the little deranged girl was being funny. As funny as a coocoo mage can get. The two men managed to carry the heavy suit out of the closet, putting it on the floor, and separating it into parts - the armor was made to be compartmentalized, for obvious reasons - solid suit would be much more difficult to put on.
- This, Shiny, is a battlesuit that will make Batman tremble with fear. Wraith is no Wraith without his might suit, aren't you? Give him a few moments and he will put it on. - Hamilton replied with a bit of cheer in his voice - the cute girl obviously did wonders to his mood with her silliness. Being an ostracized scientist was not the happiest occupation on earth, and a bit of change and color to brighten the dingy gray reality was always welcome. As for Fritz, he did not react much, or say much, and started putting the suit on...
A few moments later he was finished, and ready to appear to the world in all of his violent and dangerous glory. The suit added a few more inches to his already tall frame, and the dark color made the figure look much more sinister. Completely reformed, from weird shell-shocked-looking guy in a blue trenchcoat to something akin to a robot, a machine. Two red lights started glowing from his helmet thing, as he sealed it shut, hiding the face behind the layer of transparasteel. He was ready to leave, to fight once more.
- There you go, one minister of death. Are all systems functional, Wraith?
- Running level 1 diagnostic. All systems are go,
- Good. Now, I hope you two will get along nicely, because, my good Wraith, it is time to pay for my services once more. Joker and his insane plans are one thing, but you have a duty to me too. And there are some ... people I'd like you to make vanish...

"The bane of batman, the march hare suit!"Indeed, the march hare suit would transform the march hare into the bane of batman, somebody who might finally put an end to the rapist ways of the costumed hero and usher a new era free of bat rapist in the world. Then she witnessed the incredible transformation of March hare, who enveloped himself with the "cocoon" that would give birth to the ultimate anti-batman creature, the UBER march hare, the perfect combination of toy and human. What's more, once the cocoon become March hare's new skin, the place where his face should be now had not one but TWO shinies, even more shiny than his normal shiny. "Wow, now you are the UBER march hare, I bet we can defeat now batman!"She was impressed by his "transformation", and got even more impressed when Mr. Fixit mentioned somebody called "Joker", that was a really cool name and Fixit also mentioned having to make somebody vanish, like in a magic trick! "That Joker must be a reaaaally cool clown, and I'm good making people vanish, one time I made a cat disappear ... but now I don't know how to make him return "

The doctor, mr. Fixit, as he was caled, only laughed again when he saw the child's fascination by the "uber march hare suit", as she called it. It was indeed, uber, and indeed was making the wearer nigh invulnerable to just about anything short of very strong superpowers. But the nickname was still amusing. Hamilton was one of the most brilliant scientists on the planet after all, his inventions and creations usually were very, very efficient. This happened to be the just the case...
As for Fritz, he simply calibrated and double-checked the working capability of the suit, making minor adjustments to be fully synchronized with his body. While the girl indulged in her near-nonsensical gibberish, he was thinking heavily. There was ... a weird thing to consider. The professor wanted him to take on ... this kid as a partner? Sure, powers were good enough, but ... he was a killer, while she ... a nutcase. Would she even follow any of things he will want her to do? Didn't seem to be the type to follow orders... at all. He would not entrust her with anything. She's a kid, all she'd become was a target, teleport or no...
- Batman is a very dangerous and cunning foe, ubersuit or no. I would need you to do what I say, if we wish to defeat him...
- There are bigger fishes to fry than batman, you know... - Hamilton interrupted Fritz as he moved slowly to another of his monitors and switched it on. It was required to wait for several moments before the visual could finally be shown. It was, by coincidence, a news channel with the latest report, about something going on in Washington DC. And by the looks of things, it looked like what happened was ... a terrorist attack.
- ... reports say that a fight that broke out between two metahumans ended up in 43 adults and 3 children dead, 153 wounded and counting. Salvation teams are still working hard to get the people out of the rubble. A footage made by a mobile telephone, as well as many eye witnesses allowed us to create a more detailed picture of the atrocity that happened...
The footage of fighting between the two "metahumans", as they were called, followed shortly, but the scenario was as casual as possible. One was wreaking havoc, the other - trying to stop him. A picture that repeated so many times in the past, it was starting to repeat again. Hamilton frowned, while Fritz did not really care. Hero, villain, dead civilians, it was out of his consideration, now it was at least. Or was it?
- You want them both dead I take it, professor?
- For now, just one. - Hamilton replied and pointed at the one with a devilish grin on his face, who was shooting beams of energy at the buildings. - Between superpowered villains and heroes, the former must be destroyed first. He is your target. Kill him.

"Okay, captain march hare!"
Batman was cunning like a ham, that was for sure, so she decided to obey the orders of UBER march hare once they got into battle against the vicious and clever wacko who for reasons only a madman would understand, believes to be a bat and rapes people as a hobby.
"Batman isn't a fish, he is a bat, and a big one ... I bet fried batman tastes bad anyway"
Mr Fixit spoke about batman and fishes, but that was silly, batman wasn't a fish, if he were then he would be called fishman instead of batman. Certainly Fixit was a big dumb, it's impossible to mistake batman for a fish.
"Oh, a magic box!"
Her short attention span fortunately changed the topic for something else as that strange square contraption some call "TV" began showing images of destruction, she wondered if somebody threw a huge party there because it was a complete mess and silly people who drank too much tomato juice was sleeping on the streets, they were so filed with the precious red liquid that some of them had it spilling through holes in in their bodies.
"Hey hey, what is a metahuman and why you want to kill them? Did they ruin that party in the magic box?"

Professor decided not to waste any effort, time or words to explain the concept of life and death to the child, knowing full well it would be a wasted effort anyhow. The girl needed serious psychiatric help, but then, should she be sane, he won't be able to use it to achieve his own ends, right? Right. Hamilton did not like to make a weapon out of her, as he did with ... another girl from his past, but he put his belief in front of his moral issues, far in front. And it would be much much easier to manipulate her in such a state, after all, she got her to help them for free...
- He is one of Batman's most powerful henchmen. We'd have to get rid of those before moving in for the bat himself. - an explanation came. This was a blatant lie, but still, it would work well enough - Alice did not know the truth if it were screaming in her face. Crazy people... so gullible, so naive...
Fritz only glared on both as he followed their little discussion. He saw how blatantly and shamelessly he tricked the girl into doing his bidding, but honestly, he did not really care. He did it for him because the scientist served as his tech support in return, and not because of affiliation with the old man's somewhat diluted goal. He stopped "working for the cause" a long time ago. They repaid for his devotion with treachery, and the sniper knew loyalty to no one but himself.
The poor foolish girl agreed to listen to him, which was good. Her abilities would make even strongest enemies vulnerable to his attacks, and make him invincible to some too. And should things go wrong - she could bail him outta there with her teleport. All and all, a win-win situation for him, or so he had rationalized. The only problem was how to keep the girl safe from actual combat, but it was solvable - he'd fight the enemy and attract attention, while she would work her magic from behind the lines...
- Understood. Are we to leave?
- No, not yet. I wish you to look over all info and footage I managed to find from the internet and news reports. It would give you a clearer idea of what you are up against. I know you never go after someone without knowing about the target's capabilities, and considering this one ... you'd need to make a lot of analysis...
- Agreed.
