All around San Francisco, riots were breaking out across the city. People were getting hurt or dying, and others were taking advantage of the situation to steal, kill, or break anything they wanted. In one word, it was chaos. Complete, utter chaos. And right then, that was exactly what Geist needed. He flexed his hand and then looked up at the building before him. Large, steel doors blocked the entrance to the compound, and heavily armed guards patrolled the perimeter, kept watch on the door, and stood in towers ready to pick off any would-be intruders with high-powered rifles. They seemed to be expecting a metahuman attack at any minute with the chaos in the city erupting, and they'd already dispatched quite a bit of their own soldiers in secret to keep an eye on things and to help re-establish some semblance of order.
Not that it mattered, really. Looking down at the wristband on his right wrist, he looked at the data word imprinted there in boldface font. "GEIST: X001" Frowning, he returned his gaze to the huge doors and then gritted his teeth. It had come to this, had it? For the last week, he'd tried to evade law enforcement and figure out why he was being chased by men with guns wanting to apprehend or kill him. And now, he'd come to the one place where he could figure that out. "STAR Laboratories," he muttered, his eyes flicking from the gate to the emblem on the soldier's bulletproof vests and body armor. He shook his head and then began to approach the gate. Immediately, the guards noticed him and leveled their guns at him. "Freeze!" One barked, their automatic rifles clicking as they prepared to shoot him. "Do not come any closer or we will be forced to shoot you!"
Narrowing his eyes, Geist flicked his wrist and shattered the guns in their hands without so much as batting an eye. The two looked at each other and started to reach for something behind their back, but he knew better than to let them react. He pushed their bodies roughly against the gate, applying enough pressure to knock them out. Then, with a great wrenching screech, Geist squeezed his hands into fists and pulled the doors open with psychokinetic power, bending them back as if they were cardboard. Walking through, the guards in the towers started to aim their weapons at him, but he simply lifted his hands up and then brought them down hard, crushing the metal support structures of the towers and bringing them down with a mighty crash. Taking great care to kill absolutely no one, he simply went on his way to the main compound, using his psychokinesis to blast the guards out of his way and knock them out while using ensuring that he kept on his toes.
Once inside the building, he kept a steady stroll and continued down the hallway, advancing through the labs to the room marked " Records: Lab X." Along the way, more guards tried to stop him, but it was quickly dealt with by a blast of pure force to their bodies, sending them down the hall to crash into the walls, through windows, and into each other, knocking them out with absurd ease.
Reaching the records room without any further incidents (beyond the blaring sirens and flashing lights, that is), Geist tore the door off its hinges and hurled it down the next hall. Marching into the room, he scowled upon seeing that the room was absolutely FILLED with computers. "Damn it..." One white-coated man came from his desk and stared wide-eyed at him, raising his hands up and standing absolutely still. Behind him, one of the monitors read "Dispatch Signal Sent." Knowing he had little time then, he took one step toward the scientist.
"Do not make me hurt you, sir. I just want the records. Give them to me, or I have no other choice than to force you."

With San Francisco in complete disorder, Static was working around the clock to make sure that things were being managed. A group of rioters were breaking into a shop, which was still had customers inside. He flew right over the fray and magnetized them to a light pole that was nearby. "Come back around Christmas time for the glass shattering sale." Even with the taking of a group of rioters out of the nights festivities, the super-charged superhero was nowhere near done for the night. Static took to the skies once more in search of somewhere he could be of some assistance.
As his normal routine, Static tapped into the police broadband to look for any major disturbances. He picked up a signal that had recently been picked up that came from Stars Lab, which was a key place within the city. It meant that he would need to check it out quickly in order to investigate who would want to break into a secure facility. There was one thing that Static could take from the information, and that whatever was attacking Stars Labs was far beyond what the normal police force could handle which left the job up to someone like him as he was more than capable of handling anything that came up.
As he passed over the front gate of Stars Labs, Static saw the handiwork of whoever had come through here. It appeared as if a gigantic version of the jaws of life had destroyed the gates, while the men looked like they were played with like rag-dolls. As he actually entered the compound, it seemed like an localized earthquake took out what seemed to be guard towers. He began clearing the men away from the debris and found that no one was fatally wounded. Continuing on his search of the compounds, Static found that all of the guards were alive.
It was definitely not hard following the path of the person who had broken into the building so easily. All Static had to do was follow the damage throughout the building. "Hanzel and Gretyl should have done what this guy did and threw a tantrum. Much easier to use as a trail to home then some breadcrumbs." His ears were becoming annoyed by the sirens that were blaring, but Static didn't do anything about them for he knew that it would tip off whoever was here that they were not alone.
The electrically inclined hero traveled down a hallway in search of someone who could tell him what as going on in this building. He stopped at a fork in his path that made him have to make a decision. "Do I want to go to the records room or the cafeteria?" Knowing most places like this, Static could see someone making this level of a complaint about the food, but in the end he headed off in the direction of where the records were. It fit the typical motive of a criminal other than trying to steal some sort of machine that would give them super powers, but this person obviously had powers because he or she had torn the place a part.
Static entered the room to see two men standing in the room with one of the appearing to be an employing. The other appeared to be threatening the man, which Static could not allow. He created an electromagnetic cage around the infiltrator and therefore making himself known to the person. "Hope you don't mind me dropping in like this, but I needed to see a scientist about a few tests I had done. Apparently there is something wrong with my cholesterol."

Geist froze at the sound of another voice, turning sharply to meet the gaze of the electrokinetic hero. He frowned, then peered at the cage that surrounded him. It didn't interfere with his powers, but then again, there was nothing that did. The technician, now behind him since Geist had turned to face Static, started to move out from behind the destructive psychic.
"No." Geist said simply, lifting a hand and picking the terrified scientist up with his psychokinetic power. The scientist flailed for a moment, but Geist but an end to his thrashing with a quick squeeze of his fist, constricting the man as if he had bound him with chains. He made certain to leave him enough room to breathe, however; no one needed to die here. Now that the civilian's interruption was out of the way, he narrowed his gaze at Static.
"Hmph. I don't know who you are, but this is none of your concern. These people know something, and I must have that information. It is imperative." The hand that was outstretched towards the scientist to keep him airborne and still began to shimmer faintly as the air around it started to meld itself into a cohesive, solid form. A powerful psychokinetic blast, one powerful enough to completely crush the life out of the scientist and every wall behind him, formed just in front of his hand.
"It appears that we are at an impasse." He stated softly, his cold eyes betraying nothing to the vigilante. His cause was his own and harmed none yet, so intervention was already one strike against the heroic forces. "As you have no doubt seen, I have taken great care not to kill any of the workers or soldiers here. But I will not surrender to you, no matter what the cost may be." Utterly conflicted, Geist's planned get-in-get-out scheme had been trashed by a hero but nothing was more important to him than his identity. He had to know why he possessed these abilities, and why he was imprisoned in the first place.
"If I am forced to lose my concentration, this blast will immediately fire and kill this man. If you do nothing, then I will take what files I need pertaining to my needs and I will leave without further conflict. It is your choice, hero..."

Static was not sure who this person was or what his reason was for attacking this facility, but there was one thing that could not be ignored. This guy would not stop until he accomplished whatever it was that he was trying to do, and from what Static could see the guy had the power to make sure that there wasn’t anything that could stop him.
When the civilian in the room tried to leave during the small instant that Static’s entrance had distracted the would be captor, the man showed a small piece of what he was capable of by stopping the man instantly. He was going to do something to stop what was occurring, but any intervention that he did would do more harm than good. Once the man seemed to have his captive completely bound, he turned back to Static in order to say something.
The man began by stating the obvious facts that Static either knew for certain or had deduced by what he had seen. The one thing that he had not known was the exact nature of this man’s powers, but some light was shed on the situation by what he saw next. It was apparent that this man could emit and control some type of energy, which explained how he was able to break into this place in the first place. Static wish he knew more about the exact nature of the man’s powers in order to properly combat them.
The man then alluded to the idea that they were at a stalemate that would end one of two ways with both options not being ideal for Static who did not want any loss of life to occur. It was moments like these that he strongly disliked coming back into the superhero world, but if he hadn’t then who knows what type of person would be standing opposite this man. “So just so that I know that I understand the situation completely, you are here to retrieve vital information for yourself, and you will kill this man if I try to stop you. Well this is definitely one of those days that I wished that I had taken a personal day. Wouldn’t you agree, Mr. guy who does not want to introduce himself?”
The high voltage hero looked at the man before him, then at the hostage, and then back at the man before him. His options were extremely limited by this situation, and he needed some time to think about the next move. After a few moments of contemplating the situation and an appropriate strategy, Static opened his mouth to speak. “There is no need for you to keep up your threat. I am not going to endanger someone’s life for some information, so you can let the nerd go because he doesn’t know anything or else he would have spilled his guts about it the moment you pulled the door of its hinges. Besides, the information you are looking for isn’t even here.”

Geist kept his narrowed gaze focused on the hero and then shook his head at the mention of him not wanting to introduce himself. He growled, almost like some sort of feral creature, and his grip on the scientist tightened. His eyes, likewise, began to faintly emit a golden light from the smallest part of his corona.
"I can't introduce myself, hero... That's why I'm here. I need to know who- or what- I am." Affter considering his own movements and actions in the foreseeable future, Geist slowly nodded to himself, affirming that the decision he was about to make was the correct one. Very gently, he unclenched his fist and the scientist's rapidly-bluing face flooded with rosy color. Gasping for breath, he released the hostage, who quickly turned and staggered out of the room as fast as his feet could carry him.
Still, Geist made no move to leave, himself. Instead, he kept his defensive posture and held his right hand up, pointed towards the hero. The name-tag marked "GEIST" was clearly visible, even to the vigilante several feet away. "You... What is your name?" He lowered his hand, his once battle-ready body language now reading that he was only wary of the electrokinetic.
"If I knew my own, I'd offer it, hero... You said the information I'm looking for isn't here, so that must mean you have a good idea where it is located. I have to know..."

Static noted the man’s aggressive response at his ploy to get a rise out of him, which he made a mental note on his mental checklist that there was a hidden rage in the man that he needed to be wary of. The angry noise was followed with a reason for why it had occurred, which Static couldn’t personally relate to but knew of many people who had no recollection of who or what they were.
His eyes watched as the man released the hostage who left the room without so much as saying a thank you to either of them. At least he wouldn’t have to worry about someone getting hurt, but now he needed to show his own sign of good faith so he dropped the electrical cage that surrounded the man. “My name is Static, and seeing as how your name-tag says Geist on it, how about we just refer to you as that until we find out your real name? It is really hard to have a conversation with someone that doesn’t have a name of some kind.”
Now that they were at least passed the stage where an all-out fight was going to occur, Static had to provide his own personal insight about Geist’s situation. “From what I have experienced in similar situation to yours, there is always one person who oversaw whatever was done to you that made you forget who you were, so that is the only person who would have the files you seek. It would have been pretty reckless of him or her to leave a record of what happened to you in such a place for someone like an investigator or apparently you could find it.”
He paused momentarily to catch his breath as the idea he was having sounded like a movie that he watched once, which most of them were based on some known truths. “And seeing as how you knew to come here, then you must have some memories that led you here or a person that pointed you in this direction, am I right?”
