The street-light above him flickered, causing the dim yellow light to send out strange shadows across the street. Alec stood almost inhumanly still as he double-checked his location. Checkmate had pulled a few favors and gotten both the security footage from S.T.A.R. Labs and the surrounding cameras from traffic, storefronts and ATMs. Analysts had determined that his target for this evening was most likely in this area. It hadn't been much of a surprise that they had lost sight of the subject, after all that had been a large part of his profession until recently.
A few light touchs of telepathy had allowed Alec some glimpses of the face he was looking for tonight. It was surprising what people had locked in their memories that went unnoticed without the right perception.
With a quick glance, he determined that no one was watching him so he shifted his clothing into his standard costume. Slipping his hands into the pockets of his long, dark coat he strode forward soundlessly into the building beyond. As he moved, he reflected on the task before him. It was an unusual occurrence to track down someone he had worked beside before.
The usual fare consisted of recently woken metahumans or scientific accidents gone wild. The details of Cyborg's defection had been sparse at best. Checkmate seldom liked to admit to any sort of missteps on their part. Alec had chosen not to pry too much from his handlers and had opted instead to go directly to the source.
If his investigation had proven true, Cyborg was somewhere nearby. Alec ghosted his way through a few walls until he found an appropriate intersection that seemed a likely spot.
The Martian dipped a hand into his pocket and produced a small, round choco cookie which he placed flat on the ground at the center of the area. He then retreated back to one of the more remote walls and used his shape-shifting to go into stealth mode, translucent and bubble-like. All he could do now was remain still and wait...

Damon was trying to keep to rooftops and densely populated areas to go around unseen. He still was on a search to find superheroes so he could learn how to be apart of the world with his ability and appearance. He knew Checkmate would not approve of his decision to defect from them, so he knew he couldn't stay in a place like S.T.A.R. Labs until they were done looking for him. He also doesn't want to get Dr. Charles involved in this unless he needed her again. Since he didn't really need sleep he could also just stay moving, and so he did.
He landed on top of a roof and walked to the edge that dropped into alley. He noticed a small item that looked oddly familiar and set his targeting system to zoom in on it. He jumped down into the intersection right next to it. He stood there not sensing movement but the feeling someone was watching and knew his extraction patterns for them to know he would be heading in this direction. "Show yourself, I know your watching."

"Good evening, Damon Stone." The calm, even tone of Alec's voice announced. He stepped into the light and returned his coloration back to it's normal status. There was the briefest pulse of a Martian's red glow to his eyes before they settled into the deep black that he normally assigned them. The Manhunter's mans remained in their pockets but otherwise he took care not to make any overtly threatening gestures. Instead, he maintained his use calm, mild-mannered demeanor. His gaze settled unwaveringly and unblinkingly on the cybernetic individual before him.
"It seems there were some concerns about your last communication with headquarters."Alec explained. A hand emerged from his pocket with another of the small, double-stuffed cookies he had used to get the Cyborg's attention. This one he examined a moment and took a small bite of before slowly chewing it. As he enjoyed his cookie he let his eyes flick back up.
"Would you clarify, please?" He asked politely, popping the remains of the cookie into his mouth and idly brushing away the crumbs from his fingers.

Damon looks towards the Martain as he materializes to where he is visible. He gives him a glaring look. He knew that the he wouldn't try to fight him unless he had to and the Martain would only try to incapacitate him. He listens to what he says and watches as he eats one of his cookies. Damon quickly takes in his surroundings without taking his eyes off Alec.
"I didnt see anything wrong with my last transmission. I don't want anything do with Checkmate anymore, Manhunter." He knew if he had to he could take him but to continue running from this guy could pose a problem. Damon knew he would need help to continue running from Checkmate, but he didn't have anywhere to turn as of yet. He would only go back to them if it was truly necessary.

"I see," Alec said simply. He remained silent for several long moments as he considered things. Damon Stone was a being not terribly unlike himself. Very different in ultimate origin and final result but created for much the same purpose. However, Cyborg had always been steered more towards the elimination of problem individuals. As the Manhunter, while he acted clandestinely he was geared more towards law enforcement or at least capture.
Similar but different. He wasn't sure what was happening with Cyborg and why he had chosen to leave. If he had truly gone rogue through some genetic quirk or shift of personality and had become a danger to himself and others this encounter would degrade quickly. To be sure, it would be a difficult fight to call. Cyborg had been trained to kill people like Alec and Alec had been trained to neutralize and capture super-powered killers.
"Perhaps you could explain your reasons for such a sudden decision." The Martian suggested thoughtfully.

Damon soon realized that he was trying to be reasonable but he was still going to be on the defensive. He didn't want to take chances and give him an opening. If he was going to go back to them and co operate, it would be on his terms. Just the thing was Checkmate was not the type to negotiate unless they got something extremely good out of the situation. He used his training to remain calm and show no real emotion or body language to give anything away.
Standing perfectly still just giving him a cold stern look he let the Martian know his intentions."I decided to leave cause Checkmate isn't the place for me anymore. They kept me away from the real world for to long and I want to learn more about my predecessor. I want to become a superhero and help keep the world at peace instead of killing targets I'm told to go after. I want my own free will and my own life. Have you never thought of such freedom?"

"What you have described is the ultimate purpose of my creation." Alec said quietly. While he served to track down and capture dangerous metahumans for the Checkmate agency at the moment it was more like on the field training. He knew that Damon's case was not quite the same. For whatever reason, he had been the replacement of one of the old guard's villains further augmented by another hero's technology. He supposed that despite it's altruistic tendencies, Checkmate was still an espionage organization at heart.
There was also no way of knowing if there was dissension in the ranks. It was entirely possible that some had no wish to revive the Justice League. Furthermore, there was another difference between himself and Cyborg. Alec carried the fragmented memories of his genetic source the Martian law enforcer A'lkk A'demzz. As far as he knew all Damon had known was Checkmate.
"I would not wish to be forced into the position of a killer," Alec agreed. He tilted his head curiously. "However, you must be aware that they almost certainly will not allow you to simply walk away?"

Damon crossed his arms and closed his eyes. He closed his eyes and lets out a sigh. He knew things with Checkmate wouldnt be easy but he need to find his true path. Yes, he was trained for a specific permission, but Dr. Charles created his body for another. He was grateful for what he had and was glad she was apart of his life and who made him who he was today. He then opened his eyes and stared blankly ahead of him but still watching Alec from the corner of his eye.
"I know that they will be on my tail the whole way, waiting for the second i mess up and terminate me for good. They also still need me for the tech I have in me. I can guarantee it wont fall into the wrong hands but it wont be use by Checkmate until I feel its necessary. I will no longer go by the codename, Raiden, while I'm away from Checkmate." He then fully turns to Alec, looking him in his eyes. "I am Cyborg from now on to owner my predecessor. If you have to take me in I wont go down without a fight but I would rather not. If they need me, I know you will know how to find me."

Alec paused in reply. He remained completely motionless for several seconds, meeting Cyborg's gaze with his own unblinking eyes. He took in Damon's words while keeping his telepathy open to any signs of deception or confusion or negative elements that might lead to someone going rogue. A few heartbeats later he ever so slightly raised an eyebrow and his face grew thoughtful.
"I believe the current directive I operate under is to hunt down 'dangerous or unstable metahumans that might be a threat to the public good'." The Manhunter quoted dryly. There was the faintest ghost of a smile at the corners of his mouth that disappeared just as quickly.
"I don't think that applies to superheroes, do you?"A'lkk inquired. The Martian folded his arms over his chest and tilted his head in further consideration. "As long as you don't do anything that can be misconstrued, I suspect i will mysteriously be unable to locate you. All that assassin training, no doubt."
"Do you have a plan?" Alec asked, reaching into his pocket for another cookie that he munched on quietly as he watched Cyborg.

Damon smiled slightly at what Alec had said. He was glad he was on his side with this. If the only person who could bring him back in one piece was going to turn a blind eye. Everything was looking up for him, he never looked at the positive way of life like this. He just normally focused one thing, his targets. No he had a free will to do whatever he wanted, and time now to use it.
"I first plan to learn of my predecessors history, what happened while i was shut off from the world, and whats changed in the world. Then Im going to find someone to help me, in becoming what I was truly made for by my creator."
