Powers and Abilities:
- Green Lantern Ring; As with all who bear the title Green Lantern, the professional skateboarder turned superhero has been gifted with a Power Ring of unimaginable power. Known throughout the galaxy as one of, if not the, most powerful weapon in existence, it's just as well that for the most part Green Lanterns work for the good of all in their duties. Able to craft constructs out of the green Oa energy generated from the ring, the limitations of such an item are only what the user thinks they are. If the Lantern has the willpower and imagination to make something, it'll be constructed in reality. Of course, there is still the Yellow Impurity there to deal with in anything that is created, but that isn't as effective against the constructs of Mike due to his fearlessness. Fear doesn't take hold on the user, so it doesn't take hold on his creations either.
As with most Lanterns, Elevation has a general theme running through his creations and that is a mix of extreme sports and japanese culture related items. So don't be surprised when he throws Goku on a skateboard at you. The powers of such a ring hardly stop at simply being able to construct things from energy, but it's the most commonly used application. Others include a forcefield allowing them to take damage beyond what is normal and survive the vacuum of space, flight, super strength...The list is endless. Well, as endless as the bearers imagination at least.- Peak Human Flexibility; Not your typical superpower as it doesn't quite go into the realm of superhuman, but good lord is Mike flexible. Years of skateboarding and throwing his body into positions it just doesn't want to go into have allowed him to develop a body that bends in frankly disturbing ways. He still can't fold himself up of course, but when it comes to bending his body to the very extremes of what is physically possible, he's the walking definition of peak flexibility.
- High Intelligence; Mike is smart. Like seriously smart. He's actually got two degrees, which is not something most other professional skateboarders can claim. Preferring to use his downtime from boarding or saving the universe to read, he is constantly gaining knowledge in virtually anything he can get his hands upon. At the moment he's learning all about the joys of thermodynamics. He's a strange man to be sure.
- Truly Fearless; This is probably what makes him the hero he is, and even without his induction into the ranks of the Corps this would be something for Criminals to take note of. Some would say he'd been born wrong as the natural ability to fear is something that has allowed humanity to evolve and survive all these years, but Mike is more than happy with the way things have turned out. Being able to look upon the most horrific monster in the universe and casually comment on its smell is something alot of heroes would be able to do, but few would truly only be noticing how bad it smelled. When Mike is faced with what strikes fear into the hearts of others, he grows determined. Determined to make the world a better place and remove fear altogether. This also has the handy side-effect of reducing the effect of the Yellow Impurity upon his ring, so the colour yellow is somewhat weaker against him. Fun times.
Appearance:
Standing at the height of 6'1 with an unnatural shock of silvery white hair atop his head, Mike Hannigan is an instantly notable figure within your average weekday crowd. With a rather scrawny looking build coupled with his penchant for rather loose fitting clothes results in most completely ignoring him when it comes to physicality. But come on, the guy weighs a good 170 pounds, so whilst there isn't much to him really, what is there is completely muscle. Not particularly surprising when one considers that both his "jobs" are rather intensive physically. His silvery white hair is grown to just around eye height and allowed to hang loosely across his face, almost obscuring the pale blue eyes that somehow manage to peek through the thick strands across his face.
His face is somewhere in the no-mans land between angular and round. This could have went horribly wrong for him, as indecision is rarely attractive, but the smile that's constantly plastered across his face keeps him somewhat mesmerising. Seriously. What does anyone have going on that makes them smile that much?
When it comes to general clothing, well, he's a simple man of simple pleasures. Blacks and whites are the mainstay colour wise, shorts, tee-shirts and hoodies are the clothing of choice. Honestly, you wouldn't guess that he was over the age of thirty by the way he dresses, he looks like someone half that age. A nice comfortable pair of skate shoes with a good amount of grip on the sole complete the outfit along with the skateboard almost permanently on his person.
Of course, he does have his other job which unfortunately requires a uniform. When going to take it to the bad guys of the world and becoming a Green Lantern, the power manifests as a uniform of black and green around his body. Form fitting all over, it's fairly simple in appearance with it being almost completely black in colour and only sporadic breaks in this monotony. First are the shoulders which are coloured the deep emerald green of the Corps, and the same with the thighs of the outfit. Finally in the center of his chest rests the Green Lantern Corps symbol, proudly shining forth for all to see. Upon his hands are a pair of what appear to be white gloves that are in stark contrast to the black and green evident across the rest of the outfit, but they're not really gloves as they can't be taken off without concentrating on deactivating them. He wears a simple black mask over his eyes to keep his identity secret. Though considering how little of his face it covers, he does wonder sometimes just how exactly that works. But it does, and that's all that matters.
Personality:What can be said here to truly give a sense of who Mike Hannigan is? Well, first things first. He's a thirty-one year old man child. Whilst he takes his work seriously, there's very little else that will keep his attention for more than a few minutes. Especially if there's something interesting happening anywhere in the vicinity. But it's all part of his charm! Honest!
With a smile almost constantly upon his face, anyone who has the thought of how similar he looks to Elevation of the Green Lantern Corps instantly dismisses such thoughts. After all, how could a superhero have such an idiotic grin upon his face all the time? But he manages it nonetheless. With no fear to hold him back at all, he looks for the good and amusing in every situation. Only removing his smile for situations that push him to the point of fury, it'll sit there quite the thing through everything else. After all, what's the point in having kickass awesome superpowers and not enjoying it?
Being a Green Lantern means that the constructs he creates are directly linked to his very will. So it's unsurprising to find that when it comes down to it, his willpower is obscene. Utterly unstoppable once he sets his mind to something, his opponents will need to literally destroy him if he goes against them. For whilst he can still move, he'll move against them. Whilst he's still able to fight, he'll throw his body on the line. But whilst he'll do everything in his power to stop his opponents, he would never kill them. He's an intergalactic police officer, not an executioner. If the Guardians really decide that death is the only punishment for an evildoer, then so be it. But Mike won't be the one to lay on the final blow, he abhors the thought of taking someones life with his own power. His abilities were born to protect life after all, not destroy it.
